All of the members of the Port Richey Fire Department undergo six months of intense training and instruction. Firefighters in the department also offer aid to any surrounding fire departments as needed.
The Port Richey Fire Department is also a Basic Life Support Department with eighteen full and part-time Emergency Medical Technicians. These professionals provide advanced life support while transporting patients to area hospitals. There is no charge at all for any medical service provided by the Port Richey Fire Department, however small the service may seem. 80% of calls received by the Port Richey Fire Department are medical calls.

New Port Richey is home to Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, HCA Community Hospital, and All Children’s Specialty Care. Hudson offers the Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. The Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital is located in Tarpon Springs, and Mease Countryside Hospital is in Safety Harbor.
